The Inverness Justice and Peace Group was initiated from St Ninian’s and includes members from St Columba’s, St Mary’s Inverness and St Mary’s Beauly.

Anyone in or around Inverness, who wishes to share with us, is very welcome.

We usually meet 7.15 -8.30 pm, on the first Wednesday of each month (except December, January, July and August) at the Olive Grove Cafe , Kingsmills.  We are very grateful that the Olive Grove Café, an initiative of the Church of Scotland (Crown) supports the Group by helping us to be more accessible, visible and open.

The priorities of the Group

To promote the cause of justice, peace and the environment

To deepen our personal commitment to prayer inspired by the Gospel

To keep our hearts and minds open, informed and compassionate.

To encourage one another in practical ways to live by the values we proclaim

To share what inspires, informs, and nourishes our individual concerns and our personal vocations

To encourage the support of our parishes in prayer and local initiatives

To welcome diversity of age, opinion and interest.

We believe that by listening to one another with respect and openness, and by welcoming the gifts – both practical and prayerful -  of each person, the group itself can contribute to peace and justice.

The teachings of the Church call us to be the Body of Christ bringing wholeness, dignity and peace to all, especially the most broken and damaged.

We seek to engage with both the local and global challenges of our time, in a spirit of hope and confidence in the God who promises fullness of life and peace beyond our understanding.

To these ends

We have invited speakers to help us understand worldwide challenges to peace and justice, both as urgent crises, and those in need of longer term solutions.

We have been inspired by the interests of individual members, for example, in climate change, food poverty, restorative justice, the choice to live in simplicity and joyfulness in the spirit of St Francis.

Some members are involved with other local groups and keep us informed, for example, about Inverness Action on Homelessness and Poverty, Inverness Street Pastors, Inverness Christian Prison Fellowship and Prisoners Week, SVDP, One World week, Fair Trade, and Inverness Inter Faith Group.
