Fr Stuart will be away from the parish from Saturday 31 July
for two weeks, initially on retreat and then on holiday. He will be back in
the parish on Saturday 14 August. Canon Alistair Doyle is supplying
the Masses here and at Fort Augustus next weekend, and Canon Bernard
MacDonald will supply the Masses here and at Stratherrick the following
weekend. In case of emergency please contact St Mary’s (233519).
The Parish Pastoral Council will meet on Tuesday 24 August at 7pm in the presbytery.
The minutes of the Parish Annual General Meeting held on 21 May are now on the noticeboard with copies available in the porch for those who wish.
The Catholic Truth Society has published a beautiful Children’s Bible, price £9.95. Ask in the sacristy, or see the range of CTS children’s books on the stall in the hall at weekends.
Many thanks to all those who fill the blue ‘small change’ boxes so regularly for SCIAF. £148 was collected during the three months April to June. [If anyone has an unused blue box at home, the sacristy would be glad to have it back, as the boxes are now in short supply!]
Catechism Classes are on holiday. (Enquiries to Alison Francis, tel. 226511.)
Confirmation class is now on holiday.
Classes will resume on Monday 23 August at 6pm in the hall
(until 7.30pm). (Enquiries to Marlene Atkinson, tel. 225350.) The post-Confirmation
class for secondary pupils will meet again after the holidays. (Enquiries
to Fr Stuart.)
The Youth Club is now on holiday.
More new adult helpers are still needed to help the Youth Club
to continue. Please speak to Fr Stuart or Agnes MacDonald (tel.01463
794510) if you can help (maybe on a rota). The club usually meets fortnightly
during the school term.
The Mothers and Toddlers Group is now on holiday. The group
will meet again on Friday 20 August.
Contact Frances May, tel. 230291.
The Knights of Saint Columba meet on the first Monday of every
month at 7.30pm in the Marian Room at St Mary’s, Inverness. The Catenians
meet on the second Monday of each month in the Glenmoriston Hotel, Ness Bank
at 7.30pm. The St Vincent de Paul Society meets on Mondays
at 209 Drumossie Avenue, Inverness, at 7pm.
The Parish Finance committee is
very grateful for the donations received in response to the ‘Gift
Day’ appeal launched at the end of April to help pay for
the replacement of the four large windows at the front
of the church. Donations received so far total £9,600.
Very many thanks to all concerned. The appeal remains open and donation
envelopes are still available in the porch. Unfortunately, due to sub-contracting
delays, the work on the windows cannot now be done during the school holidays,
and the original plan for frames in uPVC has had to be changed to frames in
wood.
Tickets for the ‘Italian Night’ on Friday 27 August are
now all sold.
However, if you have bought a ticket, but find later that you cannot attend,
please let the sacristy know, as there is still a demand for tickets. Donation
of prizes for the raffle will be very welcome.
The sub-committee arranging the ‘Italian Night’ meets again on Tuesday
10 August at 7.30pm in the hall.
The Knights of Saint Columba meet on the first Monday of every month at 7.30pm in the Marian Room at St Mary’s, Inverness.
The Catenians meet on the second Monday of each month in the Glenmoriston Hotel, Ness Bank at 7.30pm.
The St Vincent de Paul Society meets on Mondays at 209 Drumossie Avenue, Inverness, at 7pm. If you would like a visit, or to become a member of the SVP, contact Peter Birrell, 01463 223040.
The next Drop-in afternoon will take place on Wednesday 11th August from 2-3.45pm. For further details, contact Joan Kelly, 01463 713302 or Rosa Finlayson, 01463 238560.

parish, for vocations and for the repose of the souls of Eileen Webb, Patricia
Cunningham, Helen Calder, Margaret McRobert and Mary Ann Rabalais, whose anniversaries
occur at this time.

News for all Parishes
The Diocesan Office invites parishioners to offer high quality photographs for consideration for inclusion in the 2011 Diocesan Calendar. Photographs should be in landscape format and the content should reflect the diocese in some way, eg saints, sacraments, people, buildings or views. Photographs should be sent to the Diocesan Office either in hard copy or electronically (e-mail to joyce@rcd-abdn.org) by Monday 2 August at the very latest.
The Papal Visit to the UK takes
place on 16-19 September 2010. It is now understood that each parish’s
allocation of tickets for the Papal Mass at Bellahouston Park will be received
in parishes during the coming week. Contrary to the impression
given in the Catholic press, there is no difference in the arrangements for
meeting the costs of the visit between England and Scotland. It
is understood that parishes will be asked to contribute to the overall cost
of the Bellahouston event, including transport costs. The hope is that everyone
who wishes to attend can do so regardless of means. Parish priests will have
discretion as to how they deal with this. There should be more official information
by next weekend. Please continue to pray for the Holy Father and for the success
of the visit.
Parishioners who would like to be part of the choir to sing at the
Bellahouston Mass, should give their names to Fr Stuart. Practices of a new
Mass setting specially composed by James MacMillan for the Papal Visit will
be held at St Mary’s, Inverness, starting on Wednesday 28 July at 7.30pm
in the Marian Room. If you have already expressed an interest but cannot attend
the first practice, please let Baxter Murray of St Mary’s know (230625).
‘Care not Killing’
cards, opposing Margo Macdonald’s ‘End of Life Assistance (Scotland)
Bill’, are available in the porch again. Over 14,000 cards have been
sent in to the organisers so far. The campaign continues until mid November,
so please complete a card if you have not yet done so. Cards may be handed in
to the sacristy.
Cenacolo Prayer Group. Each Monday at 6.30pm there is exposition and rosary at St Mary’s, praying for those affected by drugs. All welcome.
The Young Adults Group meets in the Marian Room, St Mary’s, each Friday at 7.30pm. For details, contact St Mary’s, 233519.
Patients' Religious Declaration cards
are available in the porch for those going into hospital
